The Country of Guldia

Guldia, a small landlocked country in the heart of Abendall, is known for its abundant natural resources, flourishing trade, and unique culture. Despite its size, Guldia has managed to establish itself as a center of commerce, diplomacy, and entertainment in the region, thanks to its strategic location and the entrepreneurial spirit of its people. The land of Guldia is rich with vineyards, gold, coal, iron ore, bauxite, and many other natural resources. This has allowed the country to become a major exporter of these goods, attracting traders and merchants from all over Abendall. The city of Luminor, the capital of Guldia, is the hub of this trade, and also the center of culture and entertainment. It is home to theaters, museums, art galleries, and a thriving nightlife scene, making it a popular destination for visitors from other kingdoms.   But Guldia is not just about trade and commerce. The country is also known for its unique political system, which is based on the Freehold Tribunal. This is a council of elected representatives from the merchant guilds and the monarchs of the kingdoms, which meets annually to discuss and vote on matters of policy and law. The Tribunal is responsible for maintaining law and order, promoting trade and commerce, and protecting the interests of the people.   Despite its democratic system, corruption is still a problem in Guldia, especially within the criminal underworld. The Black Rose Syndicate, a powerful criminal organization, operates in the shadows, engaging in illegal activities such as extortion, smuggling, and assassination. However, the people of Guldia are not helpless. Private militia groups, such as the Adventuring Guilds and Mercenaries, offer their services to protect the country and its citizens from these criminal elements.   Religion also plays an important role in Guldia's culture and way of life. The people of Guldia worship the nine of the Nonagon, while The lady of justice, Hostia, is particularly revered, and her influence can be seen in the country's legal system and social norms as well as the home to her chosen champions known as the Arbiters.   In addition to its rich culture and natural resources, Guldia is also home to several notable landmarks and natural wonders. The Valley of Kings, located outside of Luminor, is a massive tribute to the rulers of the past, with marble statues and lush gardens. The country's stunning landscapes, including its famous vineyards and rolling hills, are also a popular attraction for tourists.   Overall, Guldia is a unique and vibrant country, with a rich history, diverse culture, and thriving economy. Its people are known for their entrepreneurial spirit, their love of justice and order, and their determination to protect their homeland from any threat, be it from within or without. Whether you're a trader, an adventurer, or a tourist, Guldia offers something for everyone, and is truly a gem of Abendall.

The City of Love

Luminor, the capital of Guldia, is a bustling metropolis like no other. With its vibrant culture, rich history, and thriving economy, it is no surprise that Luminor is considered the jewel of the kingdom. As the seat of power for the Freehold Tribunal, Luminor is a city that is both prosperous and diverse. It is home to a diverse population of merchants, artisans, and politicians, each contributing to the city's unique character and charm. The city itself is a marvel of engineering and architecture, with towering spires, intricate canal systems, and sprawling public gardens. At the heart of Luminor lies the Tribunal Hall, a grand and imposing structure that serves as the political hub of the city. It is here that the members of the Freehold Tribunal gather to discuss and debate the issues of the day, ensuring that the city's affairs are managed with care and diligence.   One of the most striking features of Luminor is its nightlife. The city is known for its lively entertainment scene, with nightly festivities that include dance, music, and revelry. Many of the taverns and clubs in the city stay open all night long, catering to the crowds of locals and tourists alike who flock to Luminor for a good time. The city is often referred to as the "city of love," and its open policy on sex work has made it a popular destination for those seeking companionship and pleasure.   In addition to its nightlife, Luminor is also home to a thriving economy. The city is a hub of trade and commerce, with merchants from all over Abendall coming to Luminor to buy and sell their wares. The city's vast network of canals and waterways makes it an ideal location for shipping, and its central location within the kingdom has made it a vital center of industry and production.   Despite its many charms, Luminor is not without its challenges. The city has long been a hotbed of political intrigue and corruption, with powerful factions vying for control of the city's resources and influence. The Black Rose Syndicate, a powerful criminal organization, has a strong presence in the city, and their shadowy dealings often intersect with the affairs of the Freehold Tribunal.   Despite these challenges, Luminor remains a city of hope and possibility. Its people are resilient and resourceful, and they continue to work tirelessly to ensure that their city remains a beacon of prosperity and progress in a world that is often dark and brutal

Points of Interest

The Warrens of Luminor are a labyrinthine network of tunnels and sewers that run beneath the city's canals and streets. This subterranean world is home to some of the city's most unsavory characters, including gangs of thieves, smugglers, and other criminals. The origins of the Warrens are shrouded in mystery, but some say they were built during the city's early years as a network of underground passageways for smugglers and other illicit activities. Over time, the tunnels and sewers were expanded and built upon, forming a complex web of interconnected spaces that became the Warrens. This location was quickly made occupied by vagabonds and Mythroot addicts.   Despite the dangers of the Warrens, some people have made a life for themselves in this shadowy underworld. There are rumors of entire communities living in the Warrens, hidden away from the rest of the city. These communities are said to have their own codes of conduct and hierarchies, with powerful figures ruling over their domain.   The Warrens are also a popular destination for adventurers and treasure hunters, as there are said to be hidden caches of valuable treasures buried deep within the tunnels. However, the Warrens are notoriously difficult to navigate, and many who venture in never return.   Recently, there have been reports of increased activity in the Warrens, with rival criminal factions vying for control over key territories. There have also been rumors of a powerful new gang rising to prominence in the Warrens, one that is more violent and ruthless than any that have come before.   Despite the dangers, the Warrens remain an integral part of Luminor's underworld, a place where the rules of society do not apply and the only law is that of the strong. It is a place of both great danger and great opportunity, and those brave or foolish enough to venture into the Warrens do so at their own peril.   The Moth's Lantern, one of the most well-known and prestigious brothels in Luminor, has a history as colorful as the city itself. It is said to have been established over a century ago by a group of enterprising courtesans who sought to create a space for the city's pleasure seekers to indulge in their desires in a luxurious and safe environment. The brothel's name, the Moth's Lantern, is said to be derived from a legend about a moth that flew too close to a lantern, causing its demise. The name serves as a cautionary tale, warning patrons not to get too lost in their pleasures and to always be mindful of their surroundings.   The Moth's Lantern is located in the heart of the city, just off one of the main canals, and occupies an entire block. The building itself is a marvel of architecture, with intricate carvings and beautiful murals adorning its walls. The brothel is divided into several areas, including an outdoor bathhouse with hot and cold pools, a lush garden with exotic smoking gazebos, and a massage parlor where skilled masseuses offer their services.   The Moth's Lantern is known for its high standards of service and selection of courtesans, who are meticulously selected and trained to cater to the diverse tastes of the brothel's clientele. The courtesans are well-educated, fluent in multiple languages, and skilled in a variety of arts, including music, dance, and poetry. The brothel's reputation is such that it attracts clients from all over the world, including nobles, merchants, and even royalty.   However, the Moth's Lantern is not without its controversies. The brothel has been the subject of numerous scandals, ranging from accusations of mistreatment of courtesans to involvement in criminal activities. In recent years, there have been rumors that the Black Rose Syndicate, one of the city's most powerful crime organizations, has gained a foothold in the brothel's operations. These rumors have not been substantiated, but they have done little to diminish the Moth's Lantern's allure.   Despite its controversies, the Moth's Lantern remains one of the most iconic and beloved establishments in Luminor. It is a place where pleasure seekers can indulge in their desires in a safe and luxurious environment, and where the art of seduction is celebrated and elevated to new heights.   The Tribunal Tower, also known as the Tower of Justice, is the tallest building in Luminor and serves as the seat of the Freehold Tribunal. The tower was built over five centuries ago by skilled artisans and architects who were commissioned by the founding members of the Tribunal to create a structure that would represent the impartiality and strength of their governing body. The tower stands at over 600 feet tall, with numerous floors of offices, chambers, and conference rooms. The main entrance to the tower is a grand marble staircase that leads to a vast foyer adorned with murals depicting the history of the Freehold Tribunal. The walls of the tower are decorated with intricate tapestries and oil paintings, and the floors are made of polished marble, giving the interior an air of elegance and power.   The Tribunal Tower is not just a symbol of justice and impartiality, but also a functional building where the most important decisions affecting the Freehold are made. The Tribunal meets in the tower's great hall, a massive chamber with a ceiling that stretches over 80 feet high. It is in this hall where the representatives of each district convene to discuss the most pressing matters affecting Luminor and its surrounding territories.   The tower has seen its fair share of tumultuous events over the years, with various factions vying for control and power. However, the Tribunal has always managed to maintain its hold on the city and the surrounding regions, thanks in part to the formidable strength of the tower itself. The building has been the site of several historical trials, with some of the most notorious criminals of the Freehold being tried and sentenced within its walls.   Today, the Tribunal Tower continues to be a central point of activity for the Freehold Tribunal, with representatives from all districts regularly meeting to discuss the most pressing issues facing Luminor. It stands as a testament to the power and stability of the Freehold, and remains a beacon of hope for those seeking justice in the city and beyond.   The District of Heroes in Luminor is a place where sell-swords and mercenaries congregate, making it a bustling hub of activity within the city. This district is known for the sounds of blacksmiths working and the sight of recruiters looking for new members, creating a lively atmosphere that draws in travelers and adventurers from all over Abendall. The district's history dates back to the early days of Luminor, where adventurers and mercenaries would gather in the city's taverns to find work and form groups for expeditions. As Luminor grew into a major trading hub, so too did the demand for mercenaries and sell-swords to protect merchants and goods from bandits and thieves.   Over time, the District of Heroes grew into a permanent home for these individuals, with guilds and mercenary companies establishing headquarters and training facilities in the area. Today, it is one of the largest districts in Luminor, with a vast array of taverns, training facilities, and blacksmiths servicing the needs of the mercenaries who reside there.   One of the most famous landmarks in the District of Heroes is the Great Hall of Champions, a massive building that serves as a meeting place for guilds and a hub for information and job postings. The Great Hall is also home to the Champions' Guild, a prestigious organization that offers membership to only the most skilled and accomplished adventurers.   Despite its reputation as a place for mercenaries and sell-swords, the District of Heroes is not without its troubles. Many guilds and mercenary companies have been known to operate outside the law, engaging in illegal activities such as smuggling and theft. The Luminor Freehold Tribunal has attempted to crack down on these criminal organizations, but their influence remains strong within the district.   Despite these issues, the District of Heroes remains a vital part of Luminor's economy and culture. The mercenaries who reside there play a crucial role in protecting the city and its inhabitants, while also offering their services to traders and travelers who pass through the city's gates.   The Hawthorne Stables, located in the outskirts of Luminor, are home to the most skilled and celebrated horse breeders in all of Guldia. Known throughout the land for producing the fastest and most agile stallions and mares, the Hawthorne Stables have long been a key fixture in the city's landscape. Founded over two centuries ago by the legendary horse breeder, Jasper Hawthorne, the stables have since passed down through generations of his family. The Hawthornes have become a staple of the city, and many of their horses have gone on to win countless races and become champions in their own right.   The stables are a sprawling complex of barns, paddocks, and training facilities, designed to cater to all breeds and types of horses. Visitors can browse through the stables' extensive collection of horses for sale, from the swift and agile Guldia mares to the majestic warhorses bred for battle. The stables also offer training programs for riders of all levels, allowing even the most inexperienced to learn the art of horsemanship from the best in the business.   Overall, the Hawthorne Stables are a beloved institution in Luminor, a symbol of the city's enduring love and respect for the art of horse breeding. Over the years, the bazaar grew in size and reputation, attracting merchants and traders from all over Abendall and beyond.   Today, the Grand Bazaar is a bustling and dynamic place, where haggling is an art form and merchants are always eager to make a sale. The smells of spices, perfumes, and exotic foods fill the air, while the sounds of merchants hawking their wares and customers bargaining for a good deal create a symphony of noise that is both chaotic and enchanting.   While the Grand Bazaar is a place of wonder and excitement, visitors should also be aware of the dangers that come with such a large and crowded market. Pickpockets and scam artists are a common sight, and it's important to keep a close eye on your belongings and be wary of anyone offering a deal that seems too good to be true.   Despite the risks, the Grand Bazaar remains a must-visit destination for anyone who loves shopping, exploring new cultures, and immersing themselves in the vibrant energy of a bustling marketplace.   The Grand Court of Verdict in Luminor is one of the most respected institutions of justice in all of Abendall. Over time, the Arbiters of Hostia were established as the enforcers of justice in the city, and their reputation for incorruptibility and impartiality grew.   The Grand Court of Verdict is a grand and imposing structure, located in the Halls of the Tribunal. Its massive doors are flanked by towering columns, and its walls are adorned with intricate carvings and sculptures. Inside, the Court is a marvel of architecture, with soaring ceilings, grand staircases, and elaborate murals.   Despite its impressive appearance, the Grand Court of Verdict is a place of somber seriousness. It is here that the most serious crimes are tried, and where those who are found guilty face harsh penalties. The Arbiters of Hostia are known for their strict adherence to the law, and those who stand before them can expect no mercy or leniency.   Despite its reputation for strict justice, the Grand Court of Verdict has faced its fair share of controversy over the years. Some have accused the Arbiters of being too rigid and inflexible in their interpretation of the law, while others have criticized their methods as being overly harsh. Nevertheless, the Court remains a pillar of justice in Luminor, and its Arbiters continue to serve as an example of integrity and virtue for the entire realm.

The region is also home to a number of skilled craftsmen who use the precious metals extracted from the mines to create intricate jewelry, armor, and weapons. The gold mined from Gold Haven is distributed among the kingdoms of Guldia, with each kingdom paying an allotted amount to then distribute among their own lands at the appraised value of their kingdom's reserves.   Despite the wealth and prosperity that Gold Haven brings, the region is not without its challenges. The mines are dangerous places, with frequent collapses and accidents that can claim the lives of miners. The people of Umeadyll take great pride in their agricultural traditions, and many festivals and celebrations are held throughout the year to honor the harvest and the land.   In recent years, there has been growing concern among the farmers of Umeadyll about the effects of climate change on their crops. Erratic weather patterns and pests have led to lower yields and higher costs for farmers, and there is a sense of urgency among many to find solutions to these challenges.   Despite these challenges, Umeadyll remains a beacon of peace and prosperity in Guldia, attracting visitors from far and wide who come to sample its fine wines and enjoy the beauty of its countryside.   Northrun, also known as the Gateway to the North, is the last major settlement before entering the northern kingdoms of Fellengarde, Krevoria, and Ryndell. The Festival of Crowns

One of the most celebrated events in all of Guldia, and indeed, in all of Abendall. This grand festival occurs annually during the mid-summer solstice, where the city is bathed in warm sunlight and the streets are filled with bustling crowds, music, and entertainment. The festival has a rich history that dates back to the founding of the Freehold Tribunal. It is said that the first Festival of Crowns was held to commemorate the successful unification of the various city-states of Guldia under the Freehold Tribunal's banner. The festival's name comes from the tradition of each noble wearing a crown of flowers or leaves, which symbolizes their unity under the Freehold Tribunal.   During the three-day festival, the nobles of the kingdoms arrive in Luminor to vote on major laws and proposals presented by the tribunal. They also tally the votes for new tribunal officials. But the festival is not just a serious affair; it is a city-wide celebration, with people making large sun motif decorations and the nobles holding various events, such as jousting, horse racing, and grand tourneys. Entertainment such as plays and acrobats can also be found throughout the city.   The festival's highlight is the Grand Banquet, where the nobles and other important figures in the city come together to feast, drink, and socialize. This event is held in the Great Hall of the Tribunal Tower, which is decorated with colorful banners and flowers.   The festival is also known for its extravagant displays of fireworks, which light up the night sky with dazzling colors and patterns. The Black Rose Syndicate

One of the most notorious criminal organizations in Guldia, is an enigmatic group that operates in the shadows. Very little is known about the inner workings of the syndicate, but their presence is felt throughout the city. Rumors abound about the origins of the Black Rose Syndicate, with some saying that it dates back to the founding of Guldia itself. Others speculate that it was formed by a group of disgruntled former members of the Tribunal, who sought to take the law into their own hands. However, no one can say for certain how the syndicate came to be.   Despite their secrecy, the Black Rose Syndicate has become a formidable force in the criminal underworld. They are involved in a variety of illicit activities, including extortion, smuggling, and assassination. They have a reputation for being ruthless and efficient, and many fear crossing them.   The syndicate is known for its distinctive symbol, a black rose with red thorns. This symbol can be seen throughout the city, marking the locations of their safe houses and indicating areas under their control.   The Black Rose Syndicate has been the target of many attempts to bring them to justice, but they have proven to be elusive. The Tribunal has offered large rewards for information on the syndicate's leaders, but few have come forward. Some speculate that the syndicate has infiltrated the Tribunal itself, making it difficult for law enforcement to take action against them.   Despite their notoriety, the Black Rose Syndicate is still able to operate with relative impunity in Guldia. Their influence can be felt in every corner of the city, and many fear that they will only continue to grow in power.

Sanctuary of The Seven

In the heart of the hero district in the city of Luminor, there lies a sacred and mysterious location known as the Sanctuary of The Seven. This ancient guild hall was once the home and stronghold of a legendary group of heroes who banded together to vanquish the fearsome Zenitians during the Empire Age. These heroes, now immortalized in tales and legends, were renowned for their courage, skill, and unity in the face of overwhelming odds. As the last of the original heroes breathed their final breath, one of them, a powerful mage, sealed the Sanctuary with an unbreakable magical spell, creating a fixed point in time that could not be tampered with. This enchantment was designed to protect the secrets and treasures hidden within, ensuring that they would only be accessible to those who were truly worthy.   The entrance to the Sanctuary is marked by a massive door, adorned with intricate carvings and runes. Seven hollowed sockets, each representing one of the legendary heroes, are embedded into the door. When the time is right, and the world is in need of heroes once more, these sockets will react with a brilliant, radiant light that serves as the key to the building. For nearly 10,000 years, the Sanctuary has stood untouched and unopened, waiting for the destined Embered Champions to return and claim their inheritance.   The legend of the Sanctuary of The Seven has become a cornerstone of Luminor's history and identity. The tale has been passed down through generations, inspiring countless aspiring heroes to embark on their own journeys in search of the Embers of the Godflame. Although many have tried to unlock the mysteries of the Sanctuary, none have succeeded in breaking the spell that protects it.   As the world faces new challenges and dark forces rise once more, the Sanctuary of The Seven stands as a symbol of hope and a testament to the power of unity and heroism. When the time comes, and the Embered Champions are chosen, the Sanctuary will open its doors once more, providing the resources and guidance needed to face whatever threat lies ahead. Until that day, the Sanctuary remains a silent guardian, a beacon of hope, and a reminder of the legendary heroes who once saved the world.
