The Advocate's Folley

This letter has been archived at Fiznab's Hall in a collection of journals and letters donated by a previous Health Magistrate. The margins, apparently by the magistrates own hand, contain notations supporting or disputing the writer's claims. The final notation at the bottom of the letter is a note that leads the reader to believe that the magistrate did not consider the request written seriously, but that this is likely only the beginning of such proliferation of a minority view.

The Advocate's Folley

Dear Magistrate, I have written this letter to warn you of the pervasive and intolerable elixir called Watckah. Various versions of this elixir are sold using a variety of untruths as to its usefulness and benefits to all consumers. Some of its purported benefits include sleep enhancer, pain reliever, and beauty enhancer.
As a sleep enhancer, I have found that the recommended dosage is only sufficient for a short period of time, and that increasing dosages become required to produce good sleep.
As a pain reliever, over time, this too requires increasing dosages to achieve the desired effect and if not carefully balanced the results are not one of pain relief, but serves as a sleep inducement usually accompanied increased or transfer of body pain to the head. In particular this transfer of pain to the cannot be a desirable effect.
As a beauty enhancer, It is the last claim that I dispute the most. I have found that even the most liberal application of this elixir (at significant personal cost) to myself has failed to assist me in attracting a spouse. My father has attempted many times to intercede where negotiations often included secret promises of regular delivery of barrels (much to my dismay) of the elixir to any man willing.
Furthermore, I have seen men take doses morning before the work can possibly wreak any painful havoc upon them. By mid-day some of these men become stupid and intolerable fools, laughing, joking, and snickering amongst themselves and avoiding their duties.
Therefore I implore you to consider outlawing the creation and distribution of this elixir.
