Solizards
One of the oddest little dragons one will ever see is the Solizard. Appearing more like lizards than true dragons, easily their most distinguishing feature are their neck frills. These extra flaps of skin are connected by thin bones and usually pinned down against the creature’s neck, but can be extended outward when desired. They are sometimes called “sun drakes” because of their ability to extend their frills and absorb energy directly from the sun when food is scarce. This trait is especially useful in their native desert, the Shifting Sands. It is certainly odd to see a dragon toward the bottom of a food chain, but they are not without means of defense. Their most draconic feature is the ability to focus the energy they have gathered into a short, intense burst of light which can leave a potential predator blinded or with a nasty burn. Generally docile but skittish and not sociable, they make bad pets, but in captivity they can live for seventy years or more.
