Quicksilver Birds
Some enterprising breeder or magician clearly took an axe beak or other large, flightless bird and pumped it full of quicksilver to try to induce an armored variant. They were fundamentally successful, and the metal is incorporated into the feathers of their head, neck, back, wings, legs, and claws. These land predators will slice their prey open with any of their metal implements. Fairly fast, at least in a straight line, they can easily outrun a person and keep pace with a horse for a short time. But their ill tempers mean they are not suitable for domestication, though their feathers can be used to make weapons and the truesilver and quicksilver can be extracted. It seems the metal poisons them, as their meat is inedible and they only live about ten years.
