Purple Worms
Burrowing through the endless dunes of the Shifting Sands are the massive, terrible purple worms. Called “sand worms” and “doom diggers” their diet seems to primarily just be the sand itself, which they consume in vast quantities. However, they will hunt living creatures as well, presumably for their nutrients, similar to a carnivorous plant.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Their bodies are lined with three sets of spines, which they can seemingly maneuver to help them navigate through the ground. Their massive maw is rimmed with sharp teeth the size of a man’s torso, but their worst attribute comes from their skin itself. They ooze a poison slime which they use to lubricate their movement through the ground. It has incredibly potent hemostatic properties, turning a person’s blood to sludge in seconds.
Additional Information
Uses, Products & Exploitation
If harvested carefully, their fluids can create a vital medicine, able to close even extremely traumatic wounds quickly. But acquisition, handling, processing, and administering the poison are all highly dangerous endeavors, and very few are willing to even attempt it.
