Perytons
Yet another bird and mammal amalgamation, but this time almost entirely bird, perytons appear as great eagles with heads like wolves topped with antlers. Called “death shadows,” and “cloud terrors,” they hail from the Miridian Mountains and hunt the open ground of the Shifting Sands. Perytons typically have brown or gray feathers and fur with some red ornamentation, primarily in the males. Similarly, the males have significantly larger antlers, which they presumably use for sexual display. Flying in small flocks, perytons will scatter herd animals to isolate the young or weak, then use their grasping claws to pin it down and finish it with their lupine jaws.

Domestication
Goblins have stolen clutches of eggs to raise the hatchlings as flying mounts. It is unclear why goblins make such adept animal tamers but between the perytons and wargs there are clearly secrets they possess which other groups would be well served to learn. Some have suggested it has to do with the goblins not being much smarter than the beasts, that the pairs are better able to understand each other because they operate on similar levels. This notion is pure speculation and a touch derisive to perytons and wargs.
