Naela Lorebound

Naela had one simple desire, but she has gone to great lengths to achieve it. The diminutive windborn girl was born to a halfling family, and her mother taught her to love books, to value every person’s story and the lessons they can teach. But her time to read was limited, and constantly being spent on silly things like chores and sleep. It hardly seemed fair, there would be so many books she would never get the chance to read. She would not stand for it. Her pursuit to evade death led her to the Putrid Swamp, where she implored the necromancers to grant her the gift of undeath. The easily acquiesced, rarely having the chance to practice their arts on a willing subject. She was cursed, killed, and revived as a risen wraith. Establishing corporeal form was a simple enough task, containing oneself in a physical body is one of the first tasks a young windborn must master for everyday life. She poured her soul into the corpse of a young elf maiden. It was a fitting body, she felt, to spend an eternity inside of. The kind of body she should have had from the beginning, all things being as they should. She took her new shell and set off for the greatest library in the world: the Sands of Time. There she now sits, always reading through pupiless eyes. Some suggest she has acquired more knowledge than anyone in the world, more than the Record Keeper, more even than the Elder Dragons. But still her task is unending, for new stories are always being written faster than she can possibly read them.
