Lord Clemont is known as a hard, somewhat miserly man. His shrewd business dealings have seen the expansion of his family's wealth and status from local nobles to a house known across the Imperium. His trade networks are vast and diverse, spanning the length and breadth of Miridia and beyond. Though he partakes in a fair amount of overland trade, the majority of his holdings are in ships. The Portwright fleet is second only to Houses Myst and Greengrove in size and extent of its reach. Calling Softsong his home, the only thing standing in Portwright's way of being elevated to an Earl or even Duke is land.
He possesses the wealth, recognition, and arguably power of many of the great houses of the Empire, but still lacks the status, a perceived wrong anyone even mildly in the know is aware of. There were once rumblings of a planned match between his daughter and the young Duke Jacyn of House Horne, but they were dashed when the girl ran away some years ago. If the rumors are true she is now a lieutenant and potentially a concubine to the Red Dragon Curse, Anderion, though at least part of that tale is likely propaganda meant to hurt Lord Clemont. Still with his original plans in ashes he will have to find other means of elevation. For all intents childless, he still has a number of young nieces and nephews who might carry the family name when his time has passed.
