Half Brotherhood
Sometimes a local lord finds themselves in need of an army and short on the coin to pay for one, in those cases they can resort to calling on the Half Brotherhood for aide. Though not as well trained, armed, or outfitted as some other mercenary bands, their blades are still sharp and their arrows piercing. Their ranks are mostly filled with minor criminals, town outcasts, and other general lowlifes, but they do not charge as though they were noble lords and knights either. "A Half Brother for half the price" they sometimes jest, though the phrase is also used somewhat derogatorily against them. The Brotherhood is known for working for the highest bidder, even if said high bid comes comes from the opposing commander in the midst of a battle. Though their reputation for fulfilling a contract is less than sterling, they still fully expect to be paid by job's end. Lordlings who promised coin they could not pay have seen it extracted in crops, livestock, clothes, and at times their very flesh. Still they are cheap and they do come when called, so while the Brotherhood is certainly no ones first choice they remain some peoples' only choice.
