Chimeras
While also used as a catch all for whatever monsters a wizard might stitch together, “chimera” most frequently refers to a creature with the head and forelimbs of a lion, a ram’s head and back legs, a dragon’s head and wings, and a snake’s head for a tail. Also called “amalgamations,” “abominations,” and described as “affronts against decency” they are too chaotic to do anything beyond kill for food and their own amusement, certainly too wild to be domesticated. They can range the length and breadth of the world hunting for food, but must always stay on the move; more powerful creatures, especially dragons, will seek to kill them or drive them out of their territory as soon as they are discovered. Chimeras seemingly live lonely lives, but at least they are short. It would seem the magics holding them together are not terribly stable, as they rarely live more than ten to fifteen years.
