Lunad
A race of canines found on Treyire. Due to their origins, they can absorb moonlight and benevolent wishes, converting it into a type of energy called lunaticus, which can be used to increase health and power. They are even able to subsist on moonlight if physical food is not available. Lunaticus can be stored in a mystical gem called a Lunatic Repose, which can be found embedded in the skulls of all lunads.
Things that affect how quickly lunaticus supply recharges:
1. The ambient light in the surroundings, particularly if it's moonlight.
2. The benevolent wishes in their surroundings. Fighting with allies concerned for their wellbeing charges lunaticus faster.
3. The phase of the moon. They recharge lunaticus fastest during a full moon, and slowest during a new moon.
4. Whether they’re in lunad or human form. Human form recharges lunaticus faster.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities
Having a strong affinity to the energy lunaticus, lunads are able to sense intuitively any strong sources of it, even ones that have not actually happened yet. Thus, they are able to sense anything that would generate a vast amount of benevolent wishes, such as natural disasters, births, illnesses, etc. They are also immune to light-based attacks, which charge their lunaticus reserves. When they have enough lunaticus stored, they are also immune to psychic attacks, as the power of benevolent wishes blocks intrusive psychic attacks.
Civilization and Culture
History
The moon of Treyire has a special property: when people prayed to it with a well-defined and benevolent wish in mind, it would glow slightly brighter, and their wish would be granted. However, with each wish made the moon would project some of its energy down to the planet of Treyire in the form of a lunad. Despite being relatively benign, preying mainly on small animals and birds, urban myth soon arose about the behaviour of the lunads. Stories of them snatching and eating human infants began to circulate in the local folklore. Although these stories were entirely fabricated by detractors, soon lunads were hated and feared by the people, and when the link between lunads and moon wishes was discovered the act of praying to the moon was forbidden by law.
By then, the lunad population was big enough to be self-propagating, and the creatures began to form families and reproduce without the need for human wishes. When the people saw that the lunad numbers were increasing rather than declining, they began to hunt the creatures. Lunads were culled from the cities, being beaten to death or shot on sight. The creatures took refuge in the local forests and mountains, hoping to escape the slaughter. Still, the humans continue to hunt them down.
