Hekmud

Hekmuds (pronounced "Heek-moods") are a race of humanoid birdmen. While adopting a fairly human stance and shape, they have distinct avian features, notably beaks, claws, talons, and of course, large wings, and would not be mistaken for humans - they are feathered. They are actually divided into two sub-classes; the honored and dishonored Hekmuds.
The honored Hekmuds are generally proud and closer to falcons or eagles in their stature, with generally white pristine feathers. They look down and feud sharply with the dishonored Hekmuds.
The group lives atop the mountain areas. They're generally adept at mastering the wind; the honored group has no problem clearing out large areas of smoke from their areas. The dishonored group (often pronounced 'Heck-muds' as it looks, muddy or dirty) are more craven and crow-like, generally shorter than the honored and with darker, black feathers. This group lives closer to the bottom of the mountains. They are less adept at controlling the wind; they generally are unable to move smoky mists, contributing to their charcoal color as the smoke is absorbed by their feathers instead.
