Arvaedh
The most Cosmopolitan of the Skovlan Cities, the southern port city of Arvaedh was largely untouched by the unity war. As with many cities in the Shattered Isles it began as a port City, able to draw upon the natural gasses and mineral deposits found along the cliffs. Here the soft sandstone was quickly mined back and much of land of the city has been reclaimed from these soft cliffs. The new modern Lightning barriers sit upon the top of clifs surrounding the main city, providing a faint ghostly halo that has risen above the city proper. The Tall stone buildings look out over wide streets and heated underground tunnels. In recent years some of these tunnels have been widened and retrofitted with rail to make transport across the city quicker and safer.
The city has always had a large population of the other nations, with communities from Akaros and Severos. This and its distance from the front lines saved it from much of the destruction and fighting, although it was not completely spared from instances of destruction and rioting. At the cessation of war, the city resumed its place as a centre of diplomacy and trade, but if you scratch beneath the surface the old tensions are still there.
