Great Tree

Overview

The largest tree in Dosjorya. A massive oak which may have sprouted early in the Age of Legends.
Appearance
The Great Tree is a very large Live Oak tree. It is said that even the extinct Hahklemems would be dwarfed by the tree's trunk and limbs. Its leaves grow large in proportion to its branches, up to three feet long and a foot wide. No other known tree in Dosyorya, settled or otherwise, comes close to the size of this tree. Despite its age and size, the Great Tree is not gnarled or scarred or otherwise bearing marks of its age. Its proportions appear to be of a similar ratio to other Live Oak trees.
History
A normal acorn gave life to this massive tree, though luck and perhaps divine intervention allowed to to continue through multiple ages. Other trees have managed to live a few thousand years but in age and size they pale in comparison. Forest dwellers in past ages used the Great Tree as a landmark for navigation. Old written records show this tree as a central feature in basic maps.   No explanation exists for how this tree managed to survive so long, but many acknowledge magic to be the reason it grew so large. Few highly detailed records exist from the Age of Legends but it is known that the gods played a large role in the lives of the Gendirlo, and their existence helps to balance the elements of the natural world. No godly element directly correlates to life, though many can aid it. Perhaps multiple gods pooled their elements to speed the growth of the Great Tree, as it had grown large relatively early in its life. Only the gods know the truth and why they might do such a thing. But it is possible that the Great Tree could be an accidental occurrence and the gods had no desire or need for such a tree.
