Gendirl Sacred Pact

Overview

The agreement made near the start of the Age of Cooperation declaring that no Gendirl can hunt or kill another. Negotiated by the Coloktial and only broken twice on a large scale in the past four thousand years.
The Agreement and History
The Coloktialo, opposing violence, sought ways to defend themselves against other Gendirlo as they were not the best fighters. Initially this peaceful, knowledge seeking species tried to ban all Gendirlo from entering their clans, but they did not have the means to enforce this. They turned to the nearby Emen Gendirlo and made an agreement, the first of many: defense for food. Both species benefitted.   The Panican Gendirlo sought to join as well, seeing value in such an agreement. Other species feared another war that could rival that waged during the Age of Legends, and fought against the allies.   Before things could escalate to full scale war, Xazdos Volcano erupted, turning day into night and forcing all species to endure hardship. Seeing an opportunity to end the violence, the Coloktialo offered the same agreement to all Gendirl species, and ultimately all agreed, if nothing else as an act of self preservation. One clause built into the agreement, besides helping each other, was that no Gendirl may hunt or kill another unless that Gendirl already broke the agreement.   Enduring the climactic changes brought on by the eruption forced the Gendirlo to learn how to work together, and all found that all could prosper if they adhered to the pact after Dosjorya returned to normal.
The Hahklemems and the Break
The last to join the agreement, the Hahklemems always were weary of being allies with potential prey and they constantly questioned the motives of the Coloktialo. They rose up and started taking over Gendirl clans two decades after the pact was forged, killing anyone who fought back but otherwise leaving those who submitted alone.   It is sometimes said that the Hahklemems wanted to rule peacefully but Coloktial historians especially refute this, saying killing dissenters is not peaceful rule. Even the Coloktial clan which fell under Hahklemem rule and noted that Hahklemems were not harsh as rulers teaches that the usurpers wanted to be tyrants of some sort.   The Nackadong Gendirlo were the ones to fight the most against the Hahklemems. As do all flying Gendirlo, the Nackadongo value freedom from leadership and opposed Hahklemem rule more than the Coloktialo. The Nackadongo suffered severe losses that they would never fully recover from, but managed to emerge victorious.   As punishment for breaking the pact, the Coloktialo and Nackadongo decided that all Hahklemems must die by the bite of a Fau, a mass killing that would occur at the location now called Bone Hill. Other Gendirlo were willing to give the Hahklemems a chance to redeem themselves, but their voices held less weight. The Hahklemems agreed, for reasons unknown, though their numbers were just as dire as those of the Nackadongo.
