Dosjorya (DAWS-jur-EYE-uh)

Overview

The name the humans gave to their new country when they colonized it two thousand years ago. Highly decentralized with no real leader. Power primarily resides with the Order of Innena and the military, though every settlement has a single leader and together they manage laws and trade.

Settlements

Settlements are called villages, towns, and cities based on population and size. Each settlement has its own leader, elected based on the preferences of that particular settlement. Taxes for the whole of Dosjorya are collected from settlement governments and each settlement decides how to collect taxes from its residents.
Leaders are rarely present in their settlements as they also manage laws for the entire land. Much of their time is spent in Hasenburg, away from friends and family. For this reason and because of the amount of effort asked of settlement leaders for little pay, reward, or power, it is rare for a person to make a career as this sort of politician. Those who seek power enter the military instead.
