Dwarven Reel
A dwarven reel is the name of both a type of music and a dance. It originated in dwarven communities but has spread throughout Dorwine because of the large dwarven influence in its history.
History
The dwarven reel is as old as dwarven history. Some of the tunes are truly ancient and are passed on from family to family and bard to bard.
Execution
The dance itself is comprised of wild whirling where dancers will grab each other and violently spin. Collisions are common and often quite brutal and although fights sometimes break out as a result this is frowned upon as poor etiquette. In dancing a reel dancer pair up regardless of gender and will swap from partner to partner as they hurtle about.
In the heat of a particularly torrid reel dancers will often swing each other about by the beard.

Components and tools
Drums and pipes play a big part of dwarven reels, as do hurdygurdies. Most reels are accompanied by boisterous singing, from both performers and dancers.
