Dwarves

The dwarves are a race of short and strong humans, with a strong build and volumous beards. They live mainly on the continent of Azune and the city of Fram.    They are known for their long-lasting relationships and slow-growing trust. They can be aggressive and rude to outsiders and strangers, but after long relationships, they can prove to be one of the most trustworthy races in all Dorius. This example also applies to romantic relations, where they take a long time to choose a partner, but when they do so, it is almost impossible for the relationship to break.   The dwarves pray for the pantheon of Morddinsamath, a group of gods that represent the various aspects of the lifestyle of the dwarves. The main god between them is Arathror, the god of justice, goodness, and forge. There are a total of 12 gods to that pantheon, so I'm not gonna explain all of them.   These short people are known to the world as the best blacksmiths there are, being the ones that forge the armors and blades used by the most renowned kings and knights of Dorius. They are also known as the richest and most protected race in the entire world, even with smaller numbers when compared to the humans or elves.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Dwarves are a bipedal, human-like species with a strong build, short stature, and lots of facial hair. They are a shorter and stronger version of humans, which is referred to as "an image of a human that was shrunk by its top, not the corner" although this metaphor is not understood by many. Besides that, the dwarves are known for their great amounts of facial hair, which manifests mainly as great and volumous beards, that can achieve great lengths and sizes.

Growth Rate & Stages

Dwarves reach maturity by the age of 30 and live to 200 years.

Additional Information

The social structure of the dwarves varies a lot. They mostly follow the structure already imposed on the city, but in Fram, the only major city commanded only by dwarves, they follow a communistic social and governmental system.

Facial characteristics

The dwarves have a more "manly" and square face, even on the woman, having big noses, large eyebrows, and long beards or mustaches.

Geographic Origin and Distribution

The dwarves are present and known in the whole world, but mainly located in the city of Fram and spreaded around the continent of Azune.

Average Intelligence

Dwarves are known to be wiser than humans, but not as smart as them.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

The dwarves have an enhanced vision, which lets them see better in the dark. Besides that, the dwarves have a more resilient body, which makes them more resistant to diseases and poisons.

Civilization and Culture

Naming Traditions

The first names of the dwarves vary a lot, having short, but strong names, with high presence of the letter "k". The second name of every dwarf, or the clan name, is given by a clan leader, who judges the dwarf worthy of entering his clan. These names are usually a combination of 2 nouns, that are related to the subject that the clan is responsible for. When a dwarf is banned from his clan, he is "stripped" of his clan name.

Major Language Groups and Dialects

In the city of Fram, most dwarves speak in dwarvish, but the ones spread in Azune usually speak what language is spoken at the city, which is usually common.

History

The dwarves are believed to be created by the main god of their pantheon, Arathor. It is said that this god, seeing the reign that the humans had managed to conquer in the era before time, decided to create a race to oppose them. Arathor designed a human-like creature, with a stronger build and more knowledge of metals, to be able to create stronger and better weapons.    Sadly, or happily, the dwarves failed at their task and lost to the humans, that had already established kingdoms and were way more numerous. Most of these dwarves fled to Mount Boulderpeak, a single lonely volcano on top of a big island. They were guided by Arathor, who recognized his failure and send the dwarves to a new home, where they could start anew, free to do what they wanted. To his surprise, they continued to pray to him, and do so until this day.    The rest of the dwarves that didn't flee to Fram were taken as slaves by the humans or fled to Azune instead. There, they live until this day with other races.
