The 7th District

A towering monument to industrialization, the 7th District is the transport and manufacturing center of Doreymos. Home to The Clankbang Foundry and any number of individual inventors, logistics professionals, and designers, the 7th District is probably the greatest collection of free thinkers in the known world. While The 3rd District may have been destroyed by rampant industrialization without care for the populace, the 7th was designed from the start as an almost living being of magitech, and while pollution is still fairly common, nowhere in the district has come close to the ecological devastation wrought upon the 3rd, and under the Clankbang Foundry's leadership, they have no immediate plans to surpass them, either.

Demographics

The 7th district has a wide range of wealth disparity, with many low-class individuals finding work here as Runners or assistants, and many more learned individuals working in logistics or manufacturing. However, even the worst off aren't truly impoverished, and working conditions are usually fine (if a tad dangerous in some workshops) for all but the homeless. Notably, the 7th district has an abnormally large goblin population, although all major races are present.

Defences

In the 7th district, the streets themselves are defense enough; any organized force without thorough scouting beforehand would almost certainly become lost in the urban jungle, and almost every corner has some engineer who can jury rig a nearby magitech toaster in to an improvised explosive. There's very little in the way of official Embry guard fortifications here, as their primary function is levelling arrests for property destruction and other such crimes, not defense.

Industry & Trade

As the home of Clankbang Foundry, anything remotely mechanical or magitechnical in nature is likely to be manufactured in the 7th District, and in large quantities. This additionally extends to all sorts of mundane metalcraft, including armor, blades, and firearms. If you need metal shaped or formed, the 7th district is the place to get it.

Infrastructure

As a largely vertical district, the 7th has many short roads criss-crossing the landscape, which can be labyrinthine to newcomers but are at least well tended to and clearly labelled.  More importantly, though, there is a complex network of fluid tubes running underground and overhead that are capable of transporting cargo or person alike. These are nearly arcane in their organization, though, and even with a detailed map can be difficult to navigate, with many dead ends, unintentional U-turns, and confusing hubs - it frequently takes a guide just to get from A to B via the tubes, even if it's quite expedient.

Assets

As the preeminent manufactory of magitech in Doreymos, the 7th District is a hub for the purchase and sale of such equipment. It's quite expensive at times, but the sheer variety is nothing to laugh at. Additionally, the largest Hummwhirr bar in town, the Poppbrain is located here, serving countless people every day.

Guilds and Factions

The Clankbang Foundry clearly dominates the district, to the point where a lot of the safety and design policy in the manufactory is influenced by them even if the production doesn't directly work for them. Even independent manufacturers usually have some link to them, either in that they worked for them and split off on their own at some point, or are being sponsored by the much larger industrial titan.

Architecture

The towers of the 7th District are very industrial and utilitarian in design, with many of them being designed for one purpose alone and excelling in that purpose. Smokestacks, steel, and glass dominate the skies, looming over the streets and sending the narrower portions of the district in to dusk even at high noon. Few buildings stand out, which adds even more to the oppressive, labyrinthine feel of the district, where every turn is a wrong one.

Geography

The district is mostly flat, but of important note is the pollution. There's often a light haze on the street level of smoke, steam, or diffused magic, and while it's usually harmless, prolonged daily exposure without wearing some sort of face covering is usually not recommended. The higher you go, the less pollution there is, and above the 10th story, you can have a clear view over the haze and in to other districts if you're lucky enough to have a window.
