Sape Oasis

Formed by the same aquifer that created the Garden Of The Goddesses, the Sape Oasis sits on the East edge of The Glass Desert. The Oasis provides a large radius of fertile soil for flora and fauna within the already life-infused Desert, and is a very popular stopping point for travelers and traders passing through. It is also an encampment for explorers out of Nas'de, who treat the Oasis as a checkpoint and resupply station due to it being on the exact opposite side of the Desert. The few tents that have been made on the Northern side of the central lake are used to store supplies, as well as serving as a place for weary folk to rest temporarily. There is also a small medical tent to treat injuries and a large merchant tent that sells any excess or unfit supplies.

Geography

A large central pool of water has formed around the break in the aquifer, and holds enough water to fertilize and protect a large area of soil from becoming sunbaked and sandy. It is relatively flat leaving most of the thicket to be exposed to the sun, the only shade provided by the occasional tree or large bush. The area surrounding the Oasis has also become more dense with vegetation as the higher concentration of water in the airflow promotes life to emerge out of the dust.

Fauna & Flora

Small herbivores and omnivores live within the bushes, but in no way nearly enough numbers to support a sizeable population of predators. These creatures can live in relative safety as the only danger comes from any settlers in the encampment hunting for food. In terms of flora, the Oasis is rich with shrubbery and other small low-lying plants. There are occasional trees but the bushes far outnumber the tree population and have covered most of the soil, preventing further growth of any existing saplings and stifling the rooting of new ones. The bushes that dominate the area are almost entirely useless, but some have begun to bear fruit during the less-intense seasons of the Desert. Those unfamiliar with the local fruits should avoid eating them without first asking the settlers in the encampment, as some may be deliciously lethal.
