Depending on your point of view, there's either one religion, or many religions in the world of Domhan. Ako is the only true "god", and it is the one who created all of the Veikas - its children, who themselves are considered to be gods, due to their power and their capacity to influence reality itself. Considering that Ako and the Veikas are very real, there is no such thing as a traditional "atheist"; though the people from the nation of Free Domhan are often given that title, considering they fight for a Domhan free of the influence of the Veikas. Regardless, there are two schools of thought on religion in Domhan. First, there are those that believe that Ako and its children should be worshipped as a pantheon; that Ako's will is evident in the actions of its children, and that it makes little sense to give more precedence to one over the other. Then, there are those that say that the Veikas are so varied in thought, and that their dogma is so alien from that of Ako's, that one is better off fully dedicating themselves to a Veika; indeed, there is not enough time in an Emberi's lifetime to study all of the subtle variations of a Veika's teachings. Which is fortunate, as the Emberi live many lifetimes indeed. Considering the prevalence of the Veikas and their importance in the Domhan political landscape, the second school is far more common than the first.
