Truths of Domhan

The fact that the Emberi reincarnate, and some of their memories remain consistent even if they choose to live a new life, means it is quite difficult to hide the truth from anybody for very long. Powerful spellcasters may be able to alter a person's memory so badly that even their reincarnation will not be able to remember, but this remains rare in Domhan.   Reincarnations make it particularly difficult to hide truths because people have an instinctual reaction to important people they've met in a previous incarnation. It is a complex feeling to describe, but upon meeting such a person, they get a brief headache, followed by a flood of memories and a few flashbacks of that person. This is an intrinsic property of the soul, and very difficult to block or alter; this also means that past slights are very difficult to forget and forgive, as are past loves.   Nonetheless, Veikas attempt to modify the truth about their opponents constantly. Trokair and Zakon are particularly fond of using propaganda in order to do so, rallying their own citizenry against those that are at war with them. This makes it particularly awkward for those citizens who previously had incarnations originating from said nations. It is difficult to forget a grudge when your mind still remembers fighting against the nation you now inhabit, after all.   There is one truth, one fact that nobody has managed to learn so far: where did Ako go, and what is its will? Rumors say that Eolas is the only person who knows about this, but he refuses to speak of the subject. Nonetheless, many Veikas would gladly kill for this sort of information. Some want guidance from Ako, others have more nefarious intents in trying to speak with their progenitor.
