Chew Stick

Chew Stick is a candy commonly found in towns and cities along the coastline of Tszli. It is an airy taffy wrapped around a wooden dowel and eaten by sucking on it to soften it, then pulled off in chunks with your teeth. The unmistakable flavor comes from the salt water used in the recipe as well as a bright purple seaweed commonly called painters weed, which also gives the candy its color. Many compare it to ripe redcurrants crushed in sugar with a hint of seasalt.
As the taffy is incredibly chewy and stringy, kids are warned against eating them in fear of their baby teeth getting pulled out.
