Megalith - Forest Fane

The Forest Fane is a druidic ritual site of the Forest Folk the original inhabitants of the valley prior to the arrival of Strahd von Zarovich. The Forest Fane is a megalithic structure situated along the forests edge near the Old Durst Mill.

This location was encountered by Gnoll after the party fled the encounter with the hag coven. Gnoll approached this location alone. At this point the party had no information regarding the significance of this location.

Clockwise starting at north each stone megalith was carved with a representation of an animal. Starting at the north the animals were a bear, owl, goat, wolf, hawk, elk, panther, and raven. Each megalith also had a small cavity carved into the rock - 1ft deep, 2ft tall, 1ft wide. Each cavity contained a pile of children’s teeth. At the center of the stones was a large flat circular stone with a small hole in the center showing the bare dirt underneath. The stone circle had a carving as well depicting a huntress in battle with a wolf.

While exploring the megalith Gnoll was unable to deduce the meaning of the site. However, a mysterious entity reached out to Gnoll at this location. Gnoll swore a pact with this entity and received the sword Wrath and obtained magical powers he did not previously possess.
