Ezra Walpole

Ezra Walpole is the owner of Walpole and Son bookstore. Known simply as Walpole to most of Vallaki he is proud of running his bookstore and sees it as his legacy to see to the history of Vallaki in the stead of his old friend Otus Herod.
The party first met Walpole at his bookstore.

Walpole sold them a map of the city of Vallaki and shared some limited information he had of Barovia outside of Vallaki on a fine canvas map of the valley locked in a display case over his desk.

Walpole sold the party a copy of Court of Ravenloft as the party had heard that this is the book that they were reading in the Wachter book club.

The party asked Walpole about part of their tarroka card reading. As outsiders to Barovia Walpole suggested that the first part of Eva's reading might be a reference to a 1 of 1 copy of an exceptionally rare book - The Tome of Strahd. Walpole indicated his old friend Herod had made it his life's work to try to secure that book, but to his knowledge Herod did not find it.

Walpole told the story of Otus Herod whom the burgomaster had executed after publishing a satrical tome "The Mocking Chronciles." Otus Herod's abandoned residence is still in town. Walpole suggested he may have the last remaining copy of "The Mocking Chronicles".

Walpole is seaching for two books in the Argynvost series. He has 2 of 4. Walpole is earching for Legend of Lugdana and the Battle of Berez.

Walpole was revealed to be one of the magisters in the Wachter Cult. When Fiona launched her coup attempt Walpole had orders on him to attempt to take control of the town square. This attack was rebuffed by the party and remnants of the city guard during the Festival of the Burning Sun. Walpole later confroted the party in an ambush in the allys of Vallaki while the party went to see Lina in a Wachter controlled part of town. Walpole was killed in this attack. The party took his body back to the Vallaki Burgomaster Estate. The party took a key from Walpole with a book charm keychain.
