Darkstalkers

The Darkstalkers is an enigmatic group of thieves, information brokers and assassins. Not much is know about this guild other than rumors and conflicting reports though most people see them as crooks and bandits that are only in it for themselves. In reality the Darkstalkers act both as mercenaries for hire and guardians for the people on the lowest rung of society.
The Darkstalkers maintain a large network of spies, beggars, tavern keeps and adventurers that gather information on the things that happen in the seedy underbelly of society. The guild uses this information as both bargaining power and for favors to powerful peoplel. The various governments secretly use the Darkstalkers to gain various kinds of information to further their own schemes, due to this their shadowy activities are often but not always overlooked. Their large information network allows them to keep local people safe while robbing the rich padding their own pockets while providing for the downtrodden, do not be fooled however, if you cross them they will not show mercy.
