Forleri Leaf

A leaf from the bush of the tough Forleri shrub. Their leaves shrivel and dry up in the winter but mostly remain on the shrub, protecting the shrub itself. They are plentiful and often grow alongside the paths in the mountains, helping lead lost travellers even without a clear path to travel along.   During the few months in Ardus when the weather is mild to warm, the leaves thrive and grow quickly.   While they have time for two harvests most of the time, stripping the shrubs bare, one harvest is common. Collecting the leaves, dipping them in water and wrapped in thin moist towels and kept cold can preserve them for up to two months once the weather turns cold.   They are a popular in certain dishes, as once pulled from the cold preservation, they are used to wrap fish, meats, and various nuts. Not very flavourful on their own, tehy secret a thin sticky wax that holds food together, and are generally a cheap labor.
