Severus Snape
Severus Tobias Snape is a Potions Master, serving as the Head of House Slytherin. His bearing has been described as that of a deadly assassin, while his clothing is black and stained. With long, greasy hair and a crooked nose, it is clear that physical appearance is not a concern; however, this is also believed to be a mask, hiding his true self, in the tradition of Slytherin.
At the moment, Severus Snape considers himself a triple agent, working for and against Voldemort, Dumbledore and Lord Slytherin. Whether this is accurate remains to be seen, but it is clear that Snape is capable of betraying a master for what he views to be a superior option.
Personality: Severus Snape is a private, intelligent man. His gift for potions is matched only by the disdain he holds for the general public, yet is tempered by responsibilities and restraints the Wizarding World does not know. He is known to hold petty grudges, resenting those whom have slighted him for decades after their insult. He has a flair for drama, swirling his cape in a fashion worthy of a Shakespearean thespian and utilizing a pretentious vocabulary when it suits him.
Severus Snape was once the friend of Lily Potter nee Evans, before her marriage to James Potter. While they currently have a professional working relationship, the strain on their interactions can still be felt.
Abilities: Severus Snape is a Potions Master, meaning he is capable of creating the most difficult of potions. There is some debate over his ability as an instructor

Severus Snape is encountered as Harry is chosen for Slytherin House, and gives the usual introductory speech in the Slytherin Dungeon after the Welcoming Feast. During the speech, he told every student to ignore Harry, due to his family's Light tendencies and thus, not compatible in Dark Slytherin. During the first Potions class, Snape tested a number of Harry Potter's associates (Hermione Granger, Daphne Greengrass), asking questions far above First Year. He then attempted to utilize Legilimency on Hermione Granger; following the failed attempt, he tried to bring Hermione Granger to the Headmaster. Met with refusal by both Hermione and Greengrass, plus a threat to his position as Head of Slytherin House, he dismissed the class for the day. After Dumbledore ensured Snape's continued position, by leveraging Hermione's Healer Training application, Snape was Petrified in the obstacle course designed to protect the Sorcerer's Stone. Given a lack of mandrake root and other ingredients for removing such a state, he was unable to be restored for some time. During his absence, Dumbledore requested a replacement suggestion from Lord Slytherin, whom -- on a whim -- nominated the Bloody Baron, ghost to Slytherin House.Danger lies before you, while safety lies behind, So drink the potion and answer my questions truthfully, because I'm not in the mood to write another damn poem!Due to great fortune, Snape had re-created his obstacle for the Philosopher's Stone (also known as the Sorcerer's Stone) at Dumbledore's behest, although the recreation lacked the initial effort's lyrical components. Snape was restored in time for the Finals, and observed to be 'extremely short tempered.' After his restoration, Snape was granted the position of Defense, and requested a meeting with Lord Slytherin. In that meeting, Snape made observations on Lord Slytherin's perceived views on muggleborn, blood purity, and the old ways. By requesting to have one master, he also offered to spy on Dumbledore for Lord Slytherin. This was politely rejected, with the counter-observation that a decent Defense instructor would be an excellent test of character. Year Two Upon the return to Hogwarts, Snape's superior changed from Albus Dumbledore to Gilderoy Lockhart. Thriving as Professor of Defense, Snape continued his thespian soliloquies, but with what could be seen as less vitriolic. However, the personal duelling sessions with Snape himself seem to be an excuse for hexing everyone he doesn't like, including the one time Lockhart made a random inspection. Snape claimed it to be an accident. Snape was summoned to assist Draco Malfoy and Alexandra Black. Unbeknownst to him, Alexandra had been practicing necromancy, and Draco had accidentally created a basilisk, when using the serpensortia spell in conjunction with contacting another artifact from ancient times. Snape escorted Malfoy to the Infirmary, and has continued to remain watchful since.
