Silvershore

Silvershore is a town in Glittering Gulf. Located miles off the coast of Zandrazil, it is the headquarters of the Pale Corsairs pirates.
The town was originally founded by a wealthy merchant from Manitâl who established mining rights for the Argent Isles' rich deposits of silver. Word travelled back to the mainland that the climate on the island was perfect for harvesting exotic fruits, encouraging wealthy families to sail to the island and build plantations for harvesting oranges and bananas. As wealth disparity grew between these aristocratic families and the laborers they employed, tensions grew until finally breaking into open rebellion. Several wealthy landowners were killed in the ensuing riots as others fled the island, leaving the laborers to fend for themselves.
Silvershore thrived as a communal society for several years before the island was hit by a devastating hurricane that decimated the population and destroyed much of the infrastructure that had been maintained since the founding of the town. Disease and famine swept the town, as their colony was cut off from the mainland and unable to call for aid.
A gnomish fisherman named Bailey Ounhead took it upon himself to gather the able-bodied among them and set sail for Zandrazil, where they attacked a traveling merchant ship for supplies to aid the struggling colony. Having spent years fending for themselves and learning how to fight off monsters and other threats, the crew found they were quite adept at piracy. Returning to Silvershore as heroes, over the next several years the town rebuilt as more of its population turned to piracy to gather supplies for the town.
