Mekhanism

Mekhanism is a religious cult devoted to the worship of Mekhane.

Priesthood

Mekhanists are led by high priests known as Magi, faithful servants of Mekhane who have undergone the most drastic physical alterations as an act of worship. A congregant can become a Magi by electing to undergo blessed mechanization, replacing a vital organ or entire limb with an artificial replacement. While this is most often a replacement arm or leg, particularly zealous followers are known to have their eyes, vocal chords, lungs, or other organs replaced. The operation is not always successful; those who die during blessed mechanization are believed unworthy of Mekhane's grace.
Mekhanist congregations are organized into groups based on geographic distribution. The Church of a particular region will be led by a Magos Imperator, the highest rank of Magi who has undergone several blessed mechanizations. Most Magi Imperator are nearly indistinguishable from constructs; most of their remaining organic material are hard-to-replace organs such as the brain and heart. Beneath the Magos Imperator are the Archmagi, who are expected to lead the Church in a particular kingdom or nation. Archmagi will have several physical alterations and are most often responsible for bestowing blessed mechanizations on aspirants. Below the Archmagi are the Magi Dominus, each of whom serves as the leader of their congregation in a particular city or town. The Magi usually have one or two alterations at most.
