Personal history
Chipped Tooth was born to a family of Juyaha refugees that had fled to the Wandering Isles from Sundrop Isle, following the latter's conquest by the ancient red dragon Calamity. His family settled on Calypsus, one of the southern islands in the archipelago. He was given the name chipped tooth because as an infant he'd try to bite everything, including stone and metal.
His childhood was plagued by nightmares of a dark entity, chained in an endless void, whispering to Chipped Tooth of a seal that needed to be broken. As he grew older, the visions grew more vivid, until one evening he found himself conversing in his dream with this chained entity, Tharizdun. It offered him great power in exchange for a quest—to free the mighty god from its imprisonment.
Chipped Tooth awoke the next day with a spiral scar carved into his chest and found himself able to wield powerful eldritch magic. The adolescent catfolk bid farewell to his family and began a journey into the jungles of Calypsus in search of the first hidden shrine. His patron subconsciously led him to Taysir Levar, a member of the Cult of the Broken Chain who was also searching for the shrine with an adventuring party. Taysir recognized the symbol on Chipped Tooth's chest invited the Tabaxi to join his team. Together, they discovered the remnants of where the temple of Tel'akadi had once existed, but no signs of its current whereabouts.
Taysir invited the Juyaha to join the carnival the cultists were travelling with, Marvella's Menagerie of Might and Magic. When Chipped Tooth was introduced to Marvella, she recognized the magical potential in Chipped Tooth and immediately offered him a spot as one of the performers in her magical battle stage show. Now he and the other members of the cult are travelling with the carnival, searching for the other shrines that seal away Tharizdun and studying to find a way to break their master free.
