The younger of Amos Cross' two children, Maria was almost overlooked by both her father and grandfather and as a result mostly raised by her mother. A bright and cheerful young child, she maintained a good relationship with her brother Joel even after her was sent off to a boarding school.
Taking to the high society lifestyle with ease, she soon garndered attention, but upset her father when she rejected all suitors once she had come of age. Refusing to marry, both by her own or her father's choice, this lead to a further rift between her father and herself. After finishing college, she left Cape St. Joan and began living on her own in Portland, Oregon, where she still lives today.
It wasn't until Amos' last years that the two reconciled, and Amos included her in his last will, granting her a small amount of company shares in Cross Energy Holdings, though the controlling majority still went to Joel.
Maria remains unmarried and works as a fashion designer.
