Doctor Daniel Wales

Dr. Daniel Wales is a U.S. American physicist from New Jersey. He currently lives and works in Cape St. Joan, Oregon, for Cross Energy.
He is the brother of Cassie Lynn Wales.

Wales is a lanky man with short, brown hair and a slight stubble. He always looks very tired, with dark rings under his eyes.

Personal history

Daniel Wales was born and grew up in New Jersey into a middle-class family of teachers. Inherently perceptive and quick to grasp complex problems, he excelled in school from an early age on. After graduation, he studied quantum physics at Miskatonic University in Massachusetts on a full scholarship and became a doctorate.
In 2011, he and his then 4-year old sister were orphaned in an accident.
In the years following his graduation from university, Wales published a series of obscure but highly regarded papers. A particular topic of interest to him were Superpowered phenomena, including a paper on anomalous heat dissipation in Tinker tech.
He was eventually hired by Green Electron, a startup trying to apply some physical principles observed in Tinker tech to make new, non-superpowered renewable energy sources. The company was eventually bought up by Cross Energy Holdings.
In 2022, Wales was put in charge of a new lab in Cape St. Joan tasked with developing a prototype of a new power generator proposed by Wales. He moved to the West Coast with his sister, of whom he has custody.

Volume 1: Balance

After completing his prototype, during a test run on the 23rd of April 2023, the generator caused the powers of Black Jack who was currently flying near the facility by chance to suddenly fizzle out, causing the Sanctioned super to crash nearby. This revealed a dangerous side effect of the newly developed generator. Wales reported the accident and his suspicions to his superiors, after which additional measures for security and secrecy were taken. However, by this point, independent super and information broker Parrot had already become aware of the project.

Volume 2: Vacuum

Following Parrot's reveal of the reason of Black Jack's crash to the local rogue and independent super community, vigilante group Disequilibria began investigating Wales and his technology.

Education

Wales has a PhD in physics. His dissertation was written on quantum physics.
