Toads Ruin Our Holiday

General Summary

So, we found the webbed tracks indicating some proximity to our quarry.

It was a simple task for professionals such as ourselves to discover a toadyman hiding nearby. It was openly hostile! We responded in like with our best weapon techniques, why this toad-thing thought it could best us I am unsure, maybe they mistook us for more fishermen or something.

Then something very unsettling happened. A tidal wave! On a lake! And at such a convenient time for our enemies. I didn’t like it one bit, and looking around at my comrades I could see they shared my distaste for this development. What manner of thing caused this!? We had no time to answer as many more toad and toad related enemies appeared.

‘Do you speak the common tongue?’ I asked, showing my tongue in a vague attempt at civility with the strange beast with fishing floats in its hair.

To our surprise they did. But their understanding of our point of view and answers to queries we fielded was lacking at best. I’m under the impression these creatures are of limited intellect. Not surprising, but quite annoying given our quest.

This is about when Mange-Tout got a bit out of hand. Slash. Slash!
Croak. Slime. A thunderous roar from our bard and frightening visages gave us the upper hand.

Then more appeared! They referred to the fleeing toadthing as their king…

We didn’t get much chance to discuss it, but it seems that the toads have a legitimate claim to this land. But why they’ve been so hostile to the locals of late we are still to ascertain. Perhaps the one that lays unconscious will provide some insight. First, I’ve got to make it through this fight before I bleed out!
