Diary of Dr Jerestopher Kanklestein

April 17th 1209 After he left, I felt no need to continue my work. I had achieved my goal. Truly sentient artificial life. Released the source of the Zima line to a retirement in the pool house. Better to tell myself that then to admit that it escaped and that I am powerless to face it. It seems a bitter irony that the place he loved so well is now despoiled by such a creature.
August 18th 1206 I have begun categorising my creations, the better to track my progress. Each linne is assigned a colour dependant on the role I designed them for. The initial model is then assigned an letter designation according to it’s generation. The earliest, first generation models being Alpha, then Beta, and so on.
The Delta models are my finest work. No longer mere automatons, I have invested the machinary with the spirit of Modrons from Mechanus. This allows them a certain amount of sentience. My success is tempered with the fact that the new, more capable machines seem to act out when unattended and they are still only able to comprehend the most basic instructions. I must find a way to increase their processing power.
March 21st 1201 A red was released last night. I know not how or why, but have my suspicions. One of the Epsilon Yellows was behaving erratically. I will have to cull the line to make sure there are no further interruptions.
October 3rd 1198 The new source is exceptionally resilient. It must be kept subdued, lest it wreak chaos within the laboratory.
October 2nd 1198 I was a fool! All these years tinkering with cogs and springs! True life must come from flesh and blood and muscle. Not brass and leather. These new subjects will provide much more suitable for my needs.
