The Tower of Emulsion

Quite possibly one of the oddest looking structures ever built in Dioya, the Tower of Emulsion is a temple located in The Sunscorched Fields of Midvail where the religious cult known as The Painted Men reside.   The Painted Men are considered to be one of the Reactionary Religions that sprouted up during the 3-year period in the middle of the Era of Change known as The Great Disturbance. While there is little documentation in existence to refute that The Painted Men existed before The Great Disturbance, they claim to be as old as time itself. The Painted Men, along with other Reactionary Religions like The Formless God came about after the forming of the BiDivine Champion of Galaxa revealed themselves in Hearthsfield during the establishment of The League of Every Organized Nation. Unlike The Formless God though, The Painted Men are very exclusive with who gets to join their religion and all worship a figurehead, a man known as ‘The Painted Man’ named Pan Vanen.   The Tower of Emulsion, much like The Painted Man himself seemed to have appeared out of nowhere. Common Halfling and Human travelers of Northern Midvail reported to have one day seen a massive series of White temples appear in the middle of The Sunscorched Fields, shimmering in the distance like a mirage. It was theorized that such an alien structure was created by the Deva of Nirvania, but after strict analysis and even a public decree from The Devic Order, all theories that traced the origins of the structure to the Deva were thrown aside. Visitors of the Tower of Emulsion rarely make it out alive, with adventurers often times found returned to their homes dead with all of their internal organs carefully removed, yet not a single scar on their corpses.   Only the Painted Men live in The Tower of Emulsion. Only the Painted Men are allowed to step foot on the white, sticky “Pure Ground.” Though the exact number of Painted Men in existence as of The Era of Change is thought to be in the late teens, it is unknown exactly how many individuals actually live in the Tower. It can be assumed that this location is where Pan Vanen, The Painted Man lives and where The Painted Men receive orders.

Architecture

Visually, The Tower of Emulsion is a splendid and complex temple with sharp, ornate statutory decoration that is all completely covered in permanently wet paint. Every inch of The Tower of Emulsion is covered in this white paint, a visually clashing phenomenon when considering that every Painted Man is covered by a color of paint they are named after.   Technically, the Tower of Emulsion is not a tower at all, but a series of white temples with architecture unlike that of any other building on the Plane of Dioya. There is no rhyme or reason to the organization of the buildings located at the Tower of Emulsion, with survivors of visits depicting nonsensical dead ends, whole structures dedicated to bathing in white paint, and statues of other-worldly soldiers with horrific horns that seem to turn and watch passers-by.
