Sheetstone

Deep in the mountains just south of the Clansplains city of Ur-Quenik is a void-black glass-like rock known as Sheetstone. In it’s natural state, Sheetstone is smooth to the touch and when polished, shines like steel. It’s exceptionally fragile and when broken, has edges that are so unbelievably sharp, they make the most elegantly forged Mithril Blades seem dull. Because of this, Sheetstone is highly valued for its combat uses.   Up until the city of Quenik fell to the Hobgoblin Empire and became Ur-Quenik, Sheetstone remained unmined by the Orc and Goblin population of the city. The mountains just south of the city were considered a holy religious site as the Primordial Elemental, Crylen the Shower resided in the land’s many caves. Those who visited the Primordial and lived, wrote to have walked through ‘black glass halls’ to hold court with Crylen.   In the middle of The Era of Change, 15 years into the Hobgoblin Empire’s War of Conquest in the Clansplains, Hobgoblin Ky and Ga forces secured the mountains of Quenik. After the removal of Crylen from its cave, Hobgoblin forces took note of Sheetstone and began mining it en masse. The method of mining Sheetstone’s is perfect for the Hobgoblin’s brutal yet apt ways, with raw and unwieldy force being implemented to harvest the fragile rock from the core of the mountains that house it.       Sheetstone’s Common name is theorized to come from the stone’s sheet-like layering in its natural form. Alternatively and more brutally, the name could pertain to the ability one would have of cutting off ‘sheets’ of flesh from an opponent when

History & Usage

History

Following the Hobgoblin Empire’s implementation of Sheetstone in their weaponry, every Ga soldier was outfitted with Sheetstone bladed steel longswords and a pure Sheetstone dagger. Though Sheetstone daggers are easily broken, the weapon is unarguably useful against unarmored enemies like barbarians. The usage of Sheetstone weaponry in the Orc lands campaign of the Hobgobin Empire’s War of Conquest cannot be understated. Due to most Orc soldiers fighting unarmored, whole forces of superior fighters were cut down by SheetStone wielding Ga soldiers.
SHEETSTONE WEAPONS:     One pound (40 Gold) of Sheetstone is required to coat or blade an entire weapon in the stone.     Hobgoblin Ga Smiths all have the ability to service and fore a Sheetstone weapon.     Smiths with no experience servicing or forging a Sheetstone weapon must pass a DEX check of 20.     SHEETSTONE WEAPONS +4 Slashing Damage to Unarmored Opponents.
