GlowFin
When a Sea Elf, also known as a Triton reaches their 200th birthday, it is not uncommon for them to develop a condition known as Glowfin. Glowfin, also known as the Call of the Ocean is a physical aliment that results in the ears or ear-fins of a Triton to swell with bioluminescent fluid that glows a yellow-green. In Triton culture, Glowfin is the sign that the afflicted is about to pass away from old age.
While Triton culture is very utilitarian with young-adult to middle-aged members of Triton societies favored over the elderly, it is expected that those suffering from Glowfin are given the utmost level of respect. For the Tritons, Glowfin is an indicator that one has lived a full life of survival and use to their respective tribes, colonies, and settlements.

Cultural Reception
As of the Era of Change, there is no known cure for Glowfin, with very little members of the Triton medical community looking to discover a cure. For many, Glowfin is seen as a natural and in many ways, beautiful way for an individual to find out that they will soon leave the world behind and that they should start saying goodbye. It is not uncommon in Triton cultures like Nimphia and Nimtum to hod Glowfin goodbye parties that end with the infected individual walking out into the ocean to return from where the Tritons come from.
