Flex Fiber

Flex Fiber also known as Flex Fabric is a commonly used material found most commonly in the clothing of the Elves and Gnomes of Merydia. While it is considered an Elven material, one can find people of all races and creeds with the popular clothing fabric.

Flex Fiber is a combination of two different materials. The primary is Flax fibers a product of the common Linenseed plant found all around Dioya. Flax Fibers are dried and bleached into string-like strands and then coated in Phase Spider Webbing. Phase Spiders, commonly found in the forests and caves of Midvail and Nirvania have webbing with special properties that when properly woven together with dexterous hands, can be made into ropes and fabrics. When interwoven with Flax fibers, a time consuming, tedious chore, the chemicals found within the Phase Spider webbing breaks down some, but not all of the cellular structure of the fibers. The natural adhesion of the webbing keeps the form of the fibers together and makes them flexible and nearly waterproof. The result of the fusion of materials, is Flex Fiber, an incredibly flexible material that can be easily died and sewn into clothing with an impressive durability.

The history of Flex Fiber engineering goes back to the late Establishment Era starting in the Fashion District of Tivian. As trade relations between the Tabaxi Domain of The Clansplains and the Merydian cities of Midvail improved, Elven tailors needed to be able to make clothing for the slimmer but larger frames of Tabaxi, while making sure that their clothing was breathable. The implementation of Phase Spider Webbing made for the perfect. The Phase Spider Webbing’s neutral acidic nature reacting with the Flax Fibers created the perfect material for feline humanoid clothing. A Tabaxi tailor named Gift of a Guest made substantial advancements in Flex Fiber usage by accomplishing the feat of synthesizing flex fiber and thinly stripped leather into armor.

Physical & Chemical Properties

Flex Fiber is very breathable and perfect for warm to moderate temperatures. It makes for good undershirts and most outfits made from Flex Fiber fit near any and all race body types. Flex Fiber is slightly more flammable than most clothing materials.

Color

Flex Fiber’s natural color is a pale white with hints of grey.
