Day'ohrum

Day'ohrum is a common mutation for species throughout Dindeyyin, allowing the carrier to adapt to their surroundings before they're born. Most species have the gene in some form, often aiding in camofladge, and their overall ability to thrive in a certain enviroment.

Symptoms

Day'ohrum causes parts of the afflicted species' body to be replaced or grow natural material from the surrounding area. For animals, this usually occurs while in the womb or egg.

History

Day'ohrum was a mutation of the deadly disease from before the Turning Point known as Nohrok Hma, which caused the body parts of a living organisim to be rapidly replaced with the material surrounding it. The species of Dindeyyin had to rapidly evolve to survive through this disease, and so the most resistant to it survived, eventually, Nohrok Hma mutated till it only affected living species while there were unborn. This mutation enhanced the adaptation of species in Dindeyyin to their environment, allowing them to camouflage much easier.

Cultural Reception

To the dinu of Dindeyyin, day'ohrum is an important part of society and beauty ideals. In most cultures, high day'ohrum is valued. Dinu will often deliberately spend a lot of time in nature while pregnant, hoping their child is born with high day'ohrum.
