Ü'rüleihrum Tradition / Ritual in Dindeyyin | World Anvil

Ü'rüleihrum (/uːruːleɪhrʊm/)

Ü'rüleihrum (also known as Soul Shape), is a system of gender in Dindeyyin. It is a description of the way someone's spirit feels, often using plain adjectives, natural objects, or a mixture of both to aid in representing it.   The system of ü'rüleihrum is a very loose one, and having a soul shape that isn't described by any of the usual descriptions, or can only be represented using objects or sensations is not an uncommon thing, and many even combine two descriptions to represent their own.

History

The idea of having a soul shape originated in the first Tarii tribes of dintral in the Omnatuo era, and became more widespread with the first travelling dintral at the start of the S'tao era. As new societies began to rise throughout Dindeyyin, the idea of an Ü'rüleihrum was changed and adapted based on the culture of the community. Tribes and communities tied to one place often describe their ü'rüleihrum with specific things from the world around them, while nomadic dinu would often use items such as the sound of an instrument, or more generic natural things to describe it.
As more structured societies were born, many felt the need for more grounded classification of their ü'rüleihrum. Dinu began using basic terms to classify their soul shape, such as elegant (kovai'ileihrum), indimidating (morokeleihrum), and soft (mar'ileihrum). A few common descriptions were born, but many still used a natural object to describe their soul as well.

Participants

A dinu's ü'rüleihrum is a deeply personal thing, and is usually worked out by the individual dinu by themself. Finding their soulshape can take hours or years depending on the dinu.
Uncommonly, some parents will try and artificially shape their child's soul in a way they prefer, often depending on the occupation of said family. These attempts never truly work, however. Cases like these are much rarer or much more common depending on the culture of the nation.
