Episode Ninety-seven - Chronicle of Calcryx

General Summary

Part One

Aldrich spent the week with Môrgæn, after a few rides rides on Askani they watched her devour a deer carcass and then sipped wine together before making love for the first time. They then spent the week together in Aldrich's room. Later, in honor of Arion, he had his shield painted black with a white tree. Thwip spent her time healing and training Echo, her pet mimic, and taught him how to turn into things other then jewelry, though she did then realize that he could not become anything life like. Echo gained great confidence over the week, confidence enough to become virtually anything his size. Resting a lot, Thwip's broken ribs healed. Tirith spent the week offering his experience to the town guard, training them, and he got some time to train Renneth specifically. Sparing with more people, he used the chance to learn the ability to guard against those around him. Tirith also spent time teaching Calcryx the tenants of his faith. Using magic and pushing physical therapy, Varian worked on his constitution.   All the while Bree was taken to the gates and, as the bailiff was dismissed, they were lead in. Taken to jail, she was put in a cell and chained to a wall. After Jim Darkmagic caused a disruption he was taken off to enjoy the view from the cliff. Not giving any lip, not talking to the guards, Bree was fed well and moved to a cell where there was a bed for her to rest. For good behavior, she was given privacy to her chamber and then the guard helped stitch her up. At the end of the week the guard released her and took her back to her company. The guard introduced herself as Grehnan and told them that he was instructed to inform them that they could circumvent the bailiff and speak to the Inner Bailey guards with concerns.   Traveling toward the tavern, they met a young man named Dane. He asked all about them. He knew of Thwip's village and learned of Bree's homeworld. He told them that he worked for an Earl named Valisar whilst they worked for Myth Guard. He learned Bree and Tirith's name. He mentioned knowing of Taeral and had seen him in a painting and then guessed that Varian was his son. He mentioned that he was wearing the religions symbol of Taeral and that she was not of the pantheon of law. Varian then learned that Dane had swindled the blacksmith into mentioning Varian's name. Visiting the smith, he presented Varian with a prosthetic of quality that he payed the runesmith across the street to help him with.   At the tavern, the party discussed their future and Aldrich spoke with Weird Maggie as if she were an old acquaintance. The rest of the party recognized that she had descended into some form of madness. At the provisioner's, the party stocked up and he offered good coin to bring back tobacco as the town was low. Tirith then warned The Curate that the priest in the nearby house had desecrated items in his house and that he should alert authorities.   Leaving the keep and traveling the roads beyond, the party headed south and heard a propitiation from Calcryx. He bid that the party aid him kill his brood, his brothers, that if the could he would gain in power and usefulness to them. Leaving Baron Althon to guard the wagon, whom they were taking home, the party set out to kill the first two dragons. In a quick battle, the party defeated the runt of the brood whilst Calcryx defeated his brother in some feat of magic. As the party obsorbed the runt, he took in his brother's essence and grew in size. The party then took the two dragonnels present, who could then be rebond, and set out to kill Calcryx's other brother.

Part Two

In a ferce battle, the heroes were able to defeat yet another of Calcryx's brothers. The battle ended with Aldrich and Bree as those among the dead but the dragon's death restored the pair to life and reinvigorated the heroes.   Charged from their victory, the group moved to take on Calcryx's mother and made a plan before her cave. The group send in Thwip's tiny mimic companion Echo but when he did not return, Thwip and Bree launched a rescue attempt. The attempt ended with Bree being attacked by a horde mimic and the entire party needing to get involved.   As the group attempted to flee, Calcryx, whom took the direct assalt against his mother, was trapped. The combat then devolved into the party attempting to convince Wiseclaw, Calcryx' mother, to free him. Though the could not free Calcryx in a deal, they made a deal which Bree took no part in.   The group agreed, and Tirith swore, to protect and defend the Cosmic Codex and that they would help to gather allies for Wiseclaw. In return, she would allow them access her hoard and keep Calcryx alive until they could gain enough power to talk to Calcryx and keep him at bay should he get free.
