Ring of Mind Shielding Item in Dierde | World Anvil

Ring of Mind Shielding

While wearing this ring, you are immune to magic that allows other creatures to read your thoughts, determine whether you are lying, know your alignment, or know your creature type. Creatures can telepathically communicate with you only if you allow it.   You can use an action to cause the ring to become invisible until you use another action to make it visible, until you remove the ring, or until you die.   If you die while wearing the ring, your soul enters it, unless it already houses a soul. You can remain in the ring or depart for the afterlife. As long as your soul is in the ring, you can telepathically communicate with any creature wearing it. A wearer can't prevent this telepathic communication.   A ring of mind shielding was a magic item designed to literally shield the mind of the wearer from unwanted magical intrusion.

Appearance

Many of these rings were finely crafted with precious materials, making them quite valuable.

Creation

The creation process for one of these rings involved casting a nondetection spell.

Users

Rings of mind shielding were more common among those whose dealings often involved the need for such protective magic including nobles, rebels, shopkeepers with magical inventory, and members of the arcane black market.

The Mighty Menagerie received one from the corpse of Jacoby Drexelhand in Session 17: The End of Jacoby… Report.   Bastion Bladesinger wore the ring for a while and tried to see if Jacoby Drexelhand or another soul would respond. No one ever did. So in Session 24: Dead Archfey Relic Report he put it in the Bag of Holding.   Currently: In the Bag of Holding held by Sas W.T. Rayce
