What is the World of Darkness

World of Darkness (otherwise known as Chronicles of Darkness) is a collection of RPG settings that focus on "modern" settings with supernatural elements within it. These settings are highlighted by the player characters having access to most modern equipment (vehicles, cell phones, guns, etc.) that would be appropriate for current events. While more anachronistic weapons (such as swords and crossbows) can be acquired, those items would certainly seem out of place in a World of Darkness setting. Similarly, while creatures such as Vampires and Werewolves do exist, there are no Elves or Dwarves in this world (at least not part of the defined material).

World of Darkness games focus on the ideal that the types of government and military that exist in our modern world are still present in these games. For players, this is an important consideration, as no player character would be able to survive the force of a determined military encounter. Law enforcement is also equally present as it is in our world, encouraging players to think about how they deal with a "typical" NPC.
