How does DFWLarp vary from a "traditional" WoD LARP? in DFWLarp - Chronicles of Darkness (Salon Style LARP) | World Anvil

How does DFWLarp vary from a "traditional" WoD LARP?

DFWLarp is generated around the premise of allowing as much player choice as possible, within the confines of the World of Darkness system. Because of this, most DFWLarp games allow for a disparate collection of characters. Where a traditional LARP might choose to have all of its players playing as a Mage or a Changeling, DFWLarp allows players to select from any of the stated available character types to select from. Because of this methodology, certain assumptions are made about the games taking place. Primarily, DFWLarp games do not have a predefined social hierarchy. This means that any methodology of player character self governing is entirely permitted within the system. Secondly, the games are generally assumed to be occurring in the evening hours (around the same time as the actual game event occurrence). This means that players who choose to be Vampire characters are not impacted by sunlight events, and there are fewer individuals on the roads and in most businesses.
DFWLarp also uses a unique card draw mechanic for resolving die challenges, which is different from the traditional "Rock Paper Scissors" or "Die Roll" method one might encounter at traditional LARPs. This mechanic is designed to more closely match the probability of success that you would see if you were actually rolling a collection of dice, without having to stop the game flow excessively in order to roll dice.
We believe that DFWLarp has many advantages over a traditional LARP, and look forward to having even more players get a chance to try this system out.
