As a child in Sulifast, Ola Lynn-Sarchyt (“SIR-kit”) watched as her brothers learned to farm, but she was always a stone cutter at heart. At age fifteen she traveled to Tenpin to study at Stoker’s Guildhall, and returned home with a crew of workers to begin a five-year plan to rebuild the elder high towers of Sulifast.
Ola is a gifted trader and an eager gambler. She travels frequently to the largest cities of the Valley to trade in construction contracts, tools, and labor. Her enterprise now reaches from Alder to Fannuck, building sky towers, stately homes, and even the occasional house of worship.
Ola’s high towers at Sulifast have become a local legend, though not everyone in the Fast River Valley is enamored of her work. Local magistrates Emile Graves and Ketter Jerins have blocked Ola’s work at every opportunity, due to a longstanding feud that no one will bring to light.
In truth, Ola is mostly blameless in this matter, but she has from time to time used her influence to protect her worthless brothers from justice. Maker Lynn, Ola’s oldest brother, is suspected of numerous burglaries and at least one murder, yet holds his sister in thrall in a way that no other man could. Ola plies her considerable influence to protect her brother, trying as hard as she can not to learn too much of the truth.
Her husband Nevil Carth (“Kart”) is a chef from Lowers Rest, now working in a tavern in Fast. They have two children, Oilver “Ollie” Carth and Shen Carth-Sarchyt.
