Nekolai Alias (a-LIE-us) Farside is a Master architect from the University of Earls and Gelar in Marino, currently working in Newpoint, Sharing. He is a developer of novel aerial fortifications, and consultant to many architects and craftsmen throughout the Dearworth Valley.   Nekolai began his career as a sculptor and architect at the school of mines at Earls and Gelar, creating glorious facades and battlements for the Fouray Family’s sky towers at Nitz. He endured some controversy when, at age 24, there was a deadly collapse of a stone bridge in Sandew, which he had designed with his mentor Hailet Gos. There had been some disagreement about the division of labor and credit on the bridge design, and Farside still claims that the flaws were exclusively the fault of his old master. However, he can’t satisfactorily explain why he did not call them to anyone’s attention at the time.   Whatever the truth, Farside suffered the blame for the accident, and was banished from Earls and Gelar. He found his way to Sharing, where he now works as a fortification master under the banner of Sharpwing High Manor and the Geiss family. Nekolai longs one day to return to Marino as an instructor, but fears his past failures may prevent that from happening. Meanwhile, he has amassed a small fortune in the design trade, and has become a comfortable bachelor in Newpoint.   Success attracts complications, of course. Nekolai is currently fending off no fewer than three suitors from noble families whom he rightly assumes are attracted mostly by his ever-growing wealth. He entertains them with amusement and a complete lack of seriousness. But this cavalier attitude will soon lead to trouble, as one of Nekolai's jealous inamoratos will soon begin foraging in his troubled past, and threaten to jeopardize his livelihood.
