Jaris Piastère grew up in Sharing. Her father, Honroy Blaze, owned Sharpwing Skyworks, a maker of small, heavier-than-air stunt flyers. It was a struggling enterprise, specializing in skycraft that could safely fly the windy lanes above Sharing.   Jaris began doing the accounting for the business at age 12, and discovered at age 16 that her father’s business partner and dear friend, Pière Onnart, was embezzling. Worse than this, he was intentionally turning away clients, to keep the business weak in hopes of concealing his crimes. To Jaris, the latter offense seemed even more grave.   Enlisting some unsavory connections from the Blood Court in Sharpwing, Jaris quietly confronted Pière Onnart. When the meeting didn’t go well, Jaris gave the order to have Onnart killed. But not before learning that his connection to her father was more than professional.   Pière Onnart’s death became a great mystery of Sharing. His sudden disappearance seemed unusual, but the letter confessing his crimes (left along with a chest of money) seemed downright impossible. Her father always suspected Jaris' involvement, but he could prove nothing.   For a year and a half after Onnart’s disappearance, the Skyworks struggled. But at age 20, Jaris took over the operations, and (with more help from the Blood Court) she turned the Skyworks into a major operation, expanding into a broader range of skycraft and other projects, and a wealthier set of clients.   Jaris is now the chief officer of Sharpwing Skyworks, and her father is semi-retired. The two have never settled over the matter and fate of Pière Onnart. For now, Jaris is content that her father’s bewilderment is preferable to his rage. But when he learns the truth, Honroy Blaze will not easily forgive the murder of his partner.
