A child of Tenpin, Eron Hamm grew up on the toughest streets in Skye. His father Sheperd Hamm was a leatherworker on Flint Street, and his mother abandoned the family before Eron's second birthday. Eron took his marks with the Sandfish, a gang of young pickpockets in the darkest parts of the old city.
Eron always felt that he had his feet in two worlds, frequenting Birch Street and the Fingers, taking odd jobs with the high-class folk, and struggling to shed his Flint Street accent. He pretended that his mother lived somewhere among them, and that she would one day appear and welcome him into their ranks.
But this was not the truth. The nobles and aristocrats tolerated Eron, but would never accept him. He came to understand this in slow stages, through many failed business deals and love affairs, and by age 31 had worked his way into one of the most powerful positions that a street kid could find: Settle Dock Captain, Tenpin Long Poles Number 32. He celebrated his 32nd birthday on Dock 32 with 32 of his closest friends, and the next morning he hatched a scheme to turn his life around.
Unable to join the ranks of high society, Eron decided to use his connections to undermine and replace them, and now uses his friends among the nobility of Tenpin, as well as the toughest street criminals, to build a power base that spreads to the edges of the city. Contraband from all over the Highlands must now pass through his fingers when they enter the city, and he invests his share of that trade in people, arms, and fighting ships.
Eron will never overthrow the Tenpin aristocracy single-handed, but he just might have fun trying.
