County Sharing

Sharing (rhymes with “barring”) is the city at the northwestern end of the Dearworth Valley, near the ancient tower called Sharpwing Castle. (Sharing is a corruption of Sharpwing, a dark brown bird of prey similar to an eagle.) It is a high, windy city that has never been swallowed by fog.   Sharing is surrounded by quarries and copper mines. Its neighbors include the hamlet of Ollucz (“ALL-us”) and Wes (“WEZ”). The region is known as County Sharing.   As one of the two most high-altitude and clearest cities in the valley, along with Tenpin, Sharing has long exerted strong political influence over the entire Dearworth Valley.   Airships have some trouble docking at Sharing, due to the high winds, but they can usually find safe harbor in Ollucz or along the Little Shally River above Briar Lake. The “Walk to Sharing” is a famously steep road from Ollucz to Sharing that leads sailors from the cold dark of the river bank into the harsh light of the high city.   Goughy:    Goughy is a wooden boat-making city on Briar Lake. Their practical watercraft ply the waters of the Little Shally, Green Lake, and Tenpin. Among their best-known factories is the Stern Friar Shipworks.
